Seeds of Self-Reliance: Cultivating Health and Hope (2018-2019)

About the Initiative

We focused on the women of Khed taluka (Pune district) who faced the daily, critical challenge of providing regular, nutritious meals for their families. This challenge was much deeper—it was a quiet battle for their own health, often against the draining reality of anemia.

To give them strength and hope, we launched the Organic Garden Program. We didn't just give them seeds; we gave them a solution rooted in the soil. By training the women in Varude, Gulani, Wafgaon, and Kanersar, we empowered them to grow their own iron-rich food right at home. This work was a true community effort, with both women and men coming together to plant the seeds of health and self-reliance.

Program Impact

  • Trained women to grow their own iron-rich food.
  • Successfully fought local anemia, bringing an end to worry.
  • Empowered women with self-reliance through practical garden skills.
